A MiNY Filmmaker Listening Tour
The Right to Petition
Friday, November 13, 2026 | 2:30–4:30 PM
Museum of the Moving Image
36-01 35th Ave, Astoria, NY 11106
Join Queens World and the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) for a conversation with Commissioner Raphael Espinal, Deputy Commissioner of Film Kwame Amoaku, members of the MOME team, filmmakers, media makers and community leaders.
This is a meeting of two Listening Tours. Queens World has spent years creating space for Queens residents to be seen and heard. Commissioner Espinal’s citywide Made in NY Filmmaker Listening Tour is bringing that same commitment to communities across all five boroughs.
Together, we will explore what happens when artists and community members come together with their representatives to find solutions to the practical challenges facing independent filmmakers and media makers including:
• Permitting and production resources
• Pathways into unions and the industry
• Access to production and screening facilities
• Building a stronger, more accessible creative ecosystem in Queens
This is the Right to Petition in action: artists and community members coming together to speak directly to the people who represent them, identify barriers and put ideas on the table.
