Thank you to everyone who made the 12th Annual Queens World Film Festival (November 1-6, 2022) so successful! We proudly screened 157 films from 27 nations in-person at Queens Theatre, Flushing Town Hall, Museum of the Moving Image, Kaufman Astoria Studios, and The Local. We also shared the films with the world via (November 22 – December 4).

For 12 years, the Queens World Film Festival has brought the world to Queens and Queens to the world. The last three festivals were “pandemic specials!”  In fact, we were proud to be the first festival in the world to transition to virtual screenings in 2020 in response to the pandemic, and in 2021 we were one of the few festivals to host in-person and virtual screenings, side by side. Quite a feat!

During these 12 years, Queens World screened 1,817 films from 92 nations, including 289 filmmakers from Queens and worked with hundreds of filmmakers at every stage of their careers. Plus, we mentored almost 300 interns, all eager to step into their own careers as filmmakers and programmers. More than 80,000 audience members have experienced truly Indie films in the U.S. and around the world through Queens World.

So much to celebrate! We aren’t taking these accomplishments lightly and we appreciate all the positive feedback and support we’ve received from you. Now we come to another crossroads.

In 2021, we moved our festival dates from our traditional March to June to be able to help NYC begin the great reopening. In 2022 we moved the event to November and produced another sprawling hybrid. For the 13th Festival, we want to reclaim our spring slot, so the next Queens World will be held in April 2024. Festival submissions will open in October 2023 and you can find us on

Meanwhile, we will devote the rest of 2023 to exciting programming:

  • Works-in-Progress screenings for local filmmakers
  • Encore Screenings for our alumni
  • Passion in Action sessions for professional development
  • Listening Tour segments for the Queens Memory Project….and more!

One way or another, in person or on-screen, we will see you in Queens!
