Director Statement

What originally drew me to the script was that it was something that we had seen before, but told in a way that we had never seen before. As twentysomething romcom, it falls into this genre that we are very familiar with, but with characters that we haven’t ever seen before.

And this film does that within this world that we are familiar with, which is the university college scene, two people falling in love from different sides of the tracks.

There’s so many people who see themselves one way. But society sees them another way. Yet, who they want to be as something else.

And, so, the dichotomy of those two things really provides a lot of good conflict and tension throughout the script. Ultimately this is a film that challenges the initial judgments we are all making of others all the time.
