We Are Who We Are: Two films about self discovery.
Synopsis
Two young nuns meet during a Catholic gathering in Croatia and fall in love. They live in two separate convents, but the spaces they once considered havens of solace and spiritual fulfillment turn out to be more earthly than expected. Disillusioned by the Church and the sexual and psychological abuse within, yet driven by blossoming love, they make the most difficult decision of their life – to leave the convent, start a new life together on the island and seek acceptance from the traditional local community.

Director Statement
Nun of Your Business addresses a burning social and human rights issue in the region, but also around the globe, a consequence of the increasing dominance of the conservative movements. The film is relevant to those living in both liberal and conservative societies. To those in liberal societies it is an exemplary story of finding your true identity and breaking free, and in the conservative societies it raises such issues as the position of the Catholic Church, personal identity, female rights and action required to exercise those rights.
Director Biography
Ivana Marinić Kragić is a Co-Founder/Producer at Marinis Media (Croatia). She graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2012 in Zagreb, at the Department of Cinematography. As a Director of photography, she made a dozen short fiction films directed by Ivan Mokrović, Goran Ribarić, Luka Ćurčić, and Filip Maloča. Nun of Your Business (HT Audience Award ZagrebDox 2020) is her first feature-length documentary as a director and director of photography. As a producer, she made short films “The Little Raccoon” (2013) directed by Barbara Vekarić, “Under the Surface” (2012) directed by Ivan Mokrović, “Journey” (2012) directed by Saša Tomić, “Escape” (2015), “Zagreb Confidential – Imaginary Future ” (2016) directed by Darko Fritz, and as a co-producer she made feature film “ Love Cuts ” (2019) and tv series The Only Way Out ”(2020).
She gained her first professional experience working on feature film projects; “Volare” (2019) directed by Gabriele Salvatores, TV series “Kiss Me First” (2018) produced by Netflix, “Constitution of the Republic of Croatia” (2016) directed by Rajko Grlić, “National Hero Ljiljan Vidić” (2015) directed by Ivan -Gorana Viteza, “Trampoline” (2016) directed by Zrinka Matijević.
Ivana is a board member of Filmmakers Association of Croatia.
