Director Statement

Moments from the last days of an elderly mother. It weighs heavy on her son as he serves as caretaker.

Coda was Produced by Béla TARR (Sátántangó, Werckmeister Harmonies, The Turin Horse) in Budapest, Hungary as part of his international directors intensive. It stars the gem of Hungary, Judit Pogány, known for Prefab People, The Little Fox, Twilight, among many others. Béla’s theme for the lab was ‘knife’, which conjured ideas of familial sacrifice. Formally, this is a continuation in my practice of Transcendental Style.
