Synopsis

Logline: Music, memories, and nightmares intertwine in a haunting, disorienting journey.

Synopsis: While performing in a live TV concert, Adalyn (Greta Scarano), who grapples with anxiety, depression, and extreme paranoia, experiences a dissociative episode. Her reality transforms, blurring the lines between past and present. Time itself seems to unravel as Adalyn’s haunting memories and nightmares weave into a surreal tapestry fueled by drugs and alcohol. The resulting shattered symphony is a harrowing representation of Adalyn’s mental state.

WHO TO LOVE is a long-form video created alongside a soon-to-be-released album by the same title. The film was written by and starring Grammy and Golden Globe-winning artist/producer Dave Stewart, with Greta Scarano and Mokadelic, directed by Giorgio Testi.

Director Statement

WHO TO LOVE the album was born out of Dave Stewart’s collaboration with Mokadelic and Greta Scarano. I instantly fell in love with the music and joined the team with a strong sense of how I wanted to help tell the album’s visual story.

It was important that the music remained the spine of the film’s journey. In order to translate this cinematically, I decided to make the music partly soundtrack and partly diegetic, two layers overlapping to form an organic experience.

The music of WHO TO LOVE was created during the pandemic, and my goal was to vividly bring to life Adalyn’s struggles, and the experience of anxiety and loneliness, which we all grew to understand during that time.

I hope that WHO TO LOVE serves as a catharsis for those dealing with feelings of isolation and a reminder that art of all kinds can help us persevere through our darkest times.
