The Instinct: Life around a Bangladesh train station with all manner of crime, greed and desire.
A beggar called LYANGRA (The cripple guy), who lives at the railway station, regularly goes to the house of KAALA, a drug dealer, to buy his weed from him.
When Kaala’s wife SOHAGI catches his eye, Lyangra starts trying to get closer to Kaala and eventually has an affair with Sohagi. When Kaala finds out he beats Sohagi and she runs away with Lyangra to his hometown.
When she hears there that Lyangra is a convicted murderer, who runs away from place to place just to avoid his sentence, Sohagi gets scared but she cannot return to Kaala either.
With the help of another beggar SADEQUE, who always lives in conflict with Lyangra at the railway station about their territory, Kaala finds out Lyangra’s whereabouts. He beats up Lyangra , takes Sohagi back home and they continue their family life. Lyangra goes back to the railway station and continues to disturb the life of another beggar Sadeque. He is still longing for Sohagi but when he secretly comes to Sohagi ‘s home one day to meet her, Sohagi refuses to see him anymore.

From childhood, I have grown up hearing that the people who live in slums and stations are from the wicked side of the world. Stealing, robbing, drug dealing, there are no crimes that they are not involved with. Poverty is their oldest friend. I grew up having a negative opinion about them in my mind.
After growing up, I regularly had to go to the Railway Station for travelling. I used to wait for the train at the platform. While waiting, I used to look at the station and the people around it with great curiosity. I started having conversations with one or two of them, and even ended up having beautiful bonds with some of them. Gradually, I started to like these people more and more. I came to see outside of that circle of just poverty and crime. I got in touch with their own stories of love, lust, greed, envy. I realized that when it comes to our basic desires, we’re all the same. In the end, we are all just human. I wanted to share this realization of mine with everyone. This is how I came to make ‘Adim The Instinct’.
In 2010, Juboraj Shamim made his first short film JUNCTION. He wrote the script which was based on a short story of him. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, who just founded CINEMAKER, directed the film and Juboraj Shamim was the first director assistant. JUNCTION had its World Premiere in London at the Rainbow Film Festival.
ADIM THE INSTINCT is the first feature film of Juboraj Shamim. Juboraj made a short film called PUTUL A FAMILY back in 2014. PUTUL A FAMILY won the Sheikh Russel National Award by Bangladesh Children’s Academy for the best film in 2016. His 2017 short-film CONTRAST went to several international film festivals including the 12th Busan International Kids and Youth Film Festivals.
Juboraj shamim believes- A film is possible with any type of camera in hand. Not wanting to wait for a producer to make his film, he decided to be his own cinema producer. In order to raise money for his film, he sold shares of the film. All the money for ADIM THE INSTINCT came from selling shares. ADIM THE INSTINCT is completely financed by common people.
Juboraj has already completed the shooting of his second feature film HAJOT THE PRISON amid the pandemic. Which he calls the second part of his first film ADIM THE INSTINCT.
Juboraj Shamim founded a social organization called AAMADER in his hometown Tongi just outside of Dhaka. AAMADER operates a community library and a night school for laborers. Juboraj hosts regular film screening and post-screening discussions in the library and school.
