Director Statement

I have a thing for googly eyes. The fact that you can slap a pair on an inanimate object and turn it into the cutest thing you’ve ever seen isn’t lost on me – the eyeballs tattooed on my left hand are a testament to it. So when Ariane approached me to direct a film starring a sock puppet, I said yes immediately. I don’t generally advise signing on to a project without knowing what you’re getting into, but I knew Ariane was a brilliant writer, and I trusted that whatever we were creating was a story worth being told. And it is. SOCK! is a story of friendship, acceptance, and unconditional love. It’s funny, it’s adorable, and it’s seriously unserious in a time when levity might just be the glue that keeps us all from unraveling at the seams
