The Queens World Film Festival, New York Women in Film and Television, Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, The Gaia Zine and Epicenter – NY proudly announce PASSION in ACTION, a day-long mentoring event to bring high school and college students together with Passionate Professionals in the Arts, Sciences, Finance, Women’s Sports, Nonprofit Sectors and More.

The morning session of this day long event will concentrate on developing personal professionalism related to the arts including developing a mission statement, compiling ideas on how to promote your work and creating your back pocket networking tool kit. The afternoon is devoted to a round robin speed networking event so that all attendees have the opportunity to spend 30 minutes with 3 different Passionate Professionals.

Vesna Cremona

Founder & CEO, AMER_ICAN

Vesna Cremona is the CEO and Founder of AMER_ICAN.

Vesna tied her degree in Fine Arts to her background in the luxury market as a Brand Strategist and Sales Director. As brand communications strategies directly affect sales, Vesna believes deeply that, in the current social landscape, telling stories “at” an audience is simply not enough. Rather, brands should engage theirvoices in co-creating a CULTURE with their audience.

Vesna has a personal story of overcoming adversity, that makes her passionate about the work being done at AMER_ICAN — incorporating art into brand storytelling, all while creating IMPACT. Most recently, Vesna appeared in “The Art Insider” as part of a behind the scenes interview for AMER_ICAN – and the power of art in communication.

What is a personal character trait that you have leaned on in your career?

Do not let a NO discourage you, think of it as NOT YET, trust your instinct, artists usually have great intuition. BELIEVE in yourself & NEVER give up!

What is your best advice for young creatives who are thinking about college?

Think how you can apply your talent. Ask yourself, what is it that you love to do and then research ares and fields that it can be applied to. The more defined goal you have from the start the easier it will be to achieve it.

What is your best advice for young creatives who are beginning their careers?

Find a mentor or someone that works in a space or position you would like to enter and get their guidance, be aware of your strengths and be creative not just in your work but in ways you approach problem solving
