Queens World #13 (April 16 – 28) brought over 3,000 visitors to the Astoria neighborhood for screenings, celebrations, live broadcasts, and other festival events. Launching March 16 with the annual Pot-luck-kick-off party , festival events took place every week, steadily building the anticipation of experiencing 152 films from 19 nations with 27 of those films coming from The World’s Borough: Queens!
As we analyze the data and reflect on our practices, we will lean into our 2024 theme:
Expect the Unexpected!
We are expanding The Listening Tour with 54 segments completed and archived at the Queens Memory Project. Our thriving Youth Development and Mentorship programs are on track to provide film production and arts administration experiences to 40 High School and College students. Our school based video production and theatre arts experiences will continue bringing programming into schools across the city. Our Festival Bootcamps and The Film Festival Fusion series will visit colleges and film schools, preparing emerging creatives for entering the industry.
Keep an eye on us, look out for important announcements about screening opportunities, submissions and how you can get involved.
