PASSIONATE PROFESSIONALS

The Queens World Film Festival, New York Women in Film and Television, Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, The Gaia Zine and Epicenter – NY proudly announce PASSION in ACTION, a day-long mentoring event to bring high school and college students together with Passionate Professionals in the Arts, Sciences, Finance, Women’s Sports, Nonprofit Sectors and More.

The morning session of this day long event will concentrate on developing personal professionalism related to the arts including developing a mission statement, compiling ideas on how to promote your work and creating your back pocket networking tool kit. The afternoon is devoted to a round robin speed networking event so that all attendees have the opportunity to spend 30 minutes with 3 different Passionate Professionals.

Robert Galinsky

Founder of Galinsky Coaching

Robert Galinsky is founder of GalinskyCoaching.com, and most recently lectured at Oxford University in Oxford England on “Literacy and Teenagers in Jails and Prison.” He is head speaker coach at TEDxTeen and TEDxFultonStreet, works with teenagers in Rikers Island Jail and jails and prisons throughout NY State via the organization Literacy for Incarcerated Teens, and also has taught at LA County Jail and New Earth Life (alternative sentencing for teens). He is the founder of the Galinsky Volunteer Vanguard where he gathers folks to take on missions at prisons and jails, and in the streets with people experiencing homelessness. Robert Galinsky is proud to be a founding member of the We Are Family Foundation’s Three Dot Dash Just Peace Summit and his work as an activist and artist has been chronicled in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Advertising Age and on NPR, the View and many more media outlets. Galinsky made his Off Broadway debut (at Cherry Lane Theatre) as both a playwright and actor in the fall of 2017 with his one-person play “The Bench, A Homeless Love Story”. The show also marks the New York directorial debut of Jay O. Sanders and is presented by Golden Globe Nominated Chris Noth and Barry “Shabaka” Henley and is produced by Tony Award winning producer Terry Schnuck. “If you enjoy the work of Anna Deavre Smith or ‘Humans of New York’ you’re in for a treat!” Theater is Easy.

Robert Galinsky was invited to speak at the University of Oxford in the UK, addressing the World Literacy Summit 2023. Galinsky speaks on “Literacy and Incarcerated Teenagers” (video), shares his insights, and offers three diverse approaches he uses  in this 18 minute talk.
