Candy Kugel

Candy Kugel, a longtime voting member of both AMPAS and the TV Academy, began her career at Perpetual Motion Pictures and she has made over a dozen award-winning independent shorts which are all part of MoMA’s Film Archives. In April, 2018, her animated autobiography, “I,Candy” premiered there as part of “An Evening with Candy Kugel”. This was followed by “Miracle on Central Park West” completed in February 2020 just before the COVID-19 lockdown in New York (premiered at Woodstock Film Festival in October 2020) and she spent the rest of 2020 working on yet another independent short “A Tale of Two Weddings” due to be completed in 2021.

Kugel developed and acted as Executive Producer for “Angela’sChristmas”, an award-winning half-hour TV special running on Netflix, for the Irish animation studio, Brown Bag.

Through Buzzco Associates, she has created TV programming, educational films & ads – most notably MTV’s initial launch, Talking About Sex for Planned Parenthood (AnnecyCristal), and WGBH’s Between the Lions (Emmy). It’s Still Me!” a 17-minute DVD has become a valuable resource for people with aphasia.
