Stoop Chat with Jimmy & Shanaya

“Stoop Chat with Jimmy & Shanaya,” which had its film fest debut at QWFF, has been accepted to nine film festivals to date and won best documentary at Urban Dreams Mental Health Film Festival. CoGenerate recently held a webinar with filmmaker, Marj Kleinman, and Jimmy & Shanaya, as part of their series of isolation and loneliness (link below).

This short is the first in a series of intergenerational “Stoop Chat” videos that celebrates stoop culture and preserves neighborhood stories. It builds on the Stoop Stories community project founded at the beginning of the COVID pandemic to connect, support, and celebrate our NYC neighbors. The goals of the project are to uplift and encourage more community connections in a time of significant loneliness and isolation, particularly for youth and elders. Stoop Stories is in post on their 3rd intergenerational film now.

Marj Kleinman was recently selected as an Eisner Prize Fellow for their 2024/2025 cohort, to develop intergenerational programs celebrating old New York street games across New York City.
