Director Statement
My news feeds and inboxes are full of doom and gloom, horror and strife, fire and fury. Smartphones and computers are neat little rectangles, and windows into the endless human suffering happening at any given moment. I’m privileged that, for the most part, violence and destruction feel like they happen in a world apart from mine – but, increasingly, it’s catching up. It’s getting closer. It’s becoming less abstract. It’s harder to ignore.
The heroine in “The End in Slow Motion” has the gift and curse of seeing episodes of cruelty that may be occurring in the world beyond the stoic safehouse where she and her companions have chosen to ride out the chaos. What can any of us really do when morality and stability collapse? We can bear witness, take care of the people around us, and cling to happier times.
