Filmmaker’s Note

STATE OF INDEPENDENCE is a special project for me. I wanted my film to center around black women doing amazing things, and I am so thrilled that my friend Gabrielle Kwarteng was willing to have us tell her story. Gabrielle is a treasure and encapsulates a level of creativity and musical artistry, that is not only electrifying but also inspiring.
