Filmmaker’s Note

I spent my childhood in a village in southern China with my playmates, some of which have died, and others have turned distant. I moved to the city when I grew up, then my childhood memory started fading away; in the meantime, the village has been turned upside down under economic growth. I wish I could make a movie with the imprint of the old times when I can still piece the memories together. The movie is a recreation built on the childhood memory pieces I collected; thus, it’s not about my childhood nostalgia, but more like a reflection to the world when I live in the city. I hope the movie would differ from those popcorn works which are gaudy but shallow, and could become a work out of which all the audiences could grasp something new every time they watch it.
