Director Biography

Victorious De Costa is a native of East Flatbush, Brooklyn and has dedicated his life to providing social service locally, nationally, and abroad. First through community programs while an undergrad at Morehouse College and now through art.

De Costa is the “Director of “Digging for Weldon Irvine”, a music-centered documentary that focused on the joint paradigms of Artist Identity, Mental Wellness and Suicide Awareness. Digging for Weldon Irvine starred, Lalah Hathaway, Q-Tip, Bobbito Garcia and Jazz legends Lenny White, Bernard Wright & Billy Cobham.

Victorious was also a Producer of “Yusuf Hawkins: Storm Over Brooklyn”, an HBO documentary film that was spotlighted at the 20th Annual Tribeca Film Festival and nominated for an NAACP image award in 2021. He was instrumental in lobbying the City Council to co-name a street in Yusuf Hawkins’ name where his mural presides. Storm Over Brooklyn was inadvertently responsible for the ousting of a veteran of NY radio station, Hot 97

A former coach and Commissioner of Bed Stuy Sluggers, a youth sports organization, Victorious parlayed his love for both the youth and baseball into the manifestation of the TV Documentary “Jackie Robinson: Get To The Bag”which aired on Fox Sports (FS1) in 2022 and features Earvin”Magic”Johnson, Ilyasah Shabazz, Alex Rodriguez the film’s Executive Producer – Mookie Betts and groundbreaking Hip Hop narration by SKYZOO

Upon the opening of NYC’s Jackie Robinson Museum Victorious contributed the script for the community acclaimed
Crossing the Color Line exhibit.

Exit Interview, his first scripted narrative, was made possible by the Panavision New Filmmaker Grant.
