ALTHOUGH I AM RETIRED
Synopsis
The retired bank president Zhang XinHua joined the street Women Choir. She could not handle her psychological gap between fitting in with the local Choir and had been a leader of a bank. Compromise is not about losing, it is about relieving yourself and others the burden of perfection.

Director Statement
The inspiration for “Although I am retired” comes from my mother’s experience in a street Choir. While she is just retired and met another 80 lovely retired aunties in the street Choir who had also suffered from feeling worthless, unconfident and anxious for the rest of their lives. Although they are retired, they chose to carry on loving the life and to create more spiritual values which encouraged my mother a lot indeed. Like an ancient Chinese poem says: Do not say old trees can’t grow new leaves, the setting sun still glimmers the sky and brings the glowing beauty.
Director Biography
Feng Tian Xun graduated from London School of Economics and Political Science ( LSE) with a First Class Honor in BSc Business Mathematics and Statistics, then she took a Master degree in Mathematics and Finance from Imperial College London.
Following graduation, she returned to her hometown of Beijing and worked as a trust fund manager and a private equity founder for 8 years. From 2019 to 2020, Ms. Feng attended the full-time advanced studies in the Film Directing Department of the renowned Beijing Film Academy.
