Katrina Medoff

Katrina Medoff is the co-founder and co-executive director of Moonshot Initiative, a nonprofit that works toward gender equity in the film and television industry. She has advanced the career of thousands of creatives by spearheading major programs through Moonshot:

– the Moonshot Film Challenge (formerly Women’s Weekend Film Challenge), through which Moonshot has produced 36 short films, giving over 900 women and gender-expansive filmmakers an on-set networking opportunity.

– the Moonshot Pilot and Feature Accelerators, which help emerging writers get their foot in the door through pitch meetings with major companies including Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Showtime, Starz, and more.

– virtual education, including courses like Write a Pilot in 30 Days and How to Pitch Your Project, as well as virtual workshops in which she interviews major Hollywood names such as directors Karyn Kusama, Alma Har’el, Catherine Hardwicke, Kasi Lemmons, and DeMane Davis; show runners Elle Johnson, Jennie Snyder Urman, Angela Kang, Felicia D. Henderson, and many more.

– and networking events in New York City, Los Angeles, and Atlanta.

Katrina is available for speaking engagements and has spoken at conferences, film festivals, colleges and high schools. She also offers private pitch coaching sessions and helps writers prepare for general meetings.

She has a background as a writer, producer, and actor. For ten years, she served as the editor-in-chief of BORO, a magazine about her home neighborhood of Astoria, Queens.
