Are The Stars Alive
Synopsis
Are The Stars Alive is a 3-minute, 35mm visual poem about the power of curiosity. It follows a woman learning to trust her instincts as she tries to make sense of the universe—discovering, along the way, that many of the answers we seek already live within us.The film pays tribute to trailblazing women like astronomer Maria Mitchell—who inspired the story—and the often-forgotten artists who hand-colored Georges Méliès’ early cinematic dreams, frame by frame. These women painted the stars with their own hands, laying a foundation that allowed future generations to wonder, explore, and create.By hand-cutting and coloring each frame of this film ourselves, we hope to honor the nameless rebels and storytellers who came before us—and to keep their legacy of curiosity alive.
