Director Statement
The Blame Silence emerges from the need to explore the invisible roots of pain and guilt carried by LGBTQIA+ individuals. Set in rural Brazil, where the silent pressure of family and religious values often stifles and suppresses freedom regarding sexuality, the film highlights the delicate tension between the genuine desire to fully experience romance and the constant shadow of a father who is no longer present. As a director, I aim to reveal these internal and external conflicts with humanity and affection, using a realistic and sensitive visual narrative. Immersed in Brazil’s rich cultural backdrop, the film brings to the surface a reality still deeply ingrained in rural areas, the reality of love silenced by inherited guilt, inviting viewers, through subtle exchanges of glances alone, to experience love alongside the protagonists.
