Go to the streets and ask random Moroccan people about their opinion on queer persons. What you hear in the film is what those random people said. It is what the public thinks. It is what the culture teaches. It is how we are educated in Morocco. So what do you do when you are not straight? The society may brainwash you, and in that case you deny your existence. The society may punish you, and in that case you end up in jail (if not beaten to death). If you are lucky enough, you run away
Director Biography
Meryem is a Moroccan artist who graduated in architecture in Paris and in fiction and entertainment in Los Angeles. Her works translate the use of spatial design as a medium of storytelling to explore humans’ anxieties.
