Melanie La Rosa
Documentarian, Educator
I am an award-winning filmmaker, producer, and educator based in New York City. My films have an unswerving focus on socially relevant media, and have been recognized with support from the New York State Arts Council, the Andrew W. Mellon Periclean Faculty Leadership Program, the Brooklyn Arts Council, the Queens Council on the Arts, the Solutions Journalism Network, The Puffin Foundation, and many others funders.
Currently, I am in post-production on “How To Power A City,” a feature documentary about people leading clean energy projects in six locations, and also in final revisions on a related book, “Communities and Clean Energy.” The book and the film will be released in 2021. My previous films are “The Poetry Deal: a film with Diane di Prima” (2011) and “Sir: Just a Normal Guy” (2001), both of which screened to acclaim at festivals and events around the world and are included in the permanent collections of the nation’s most prestigious universities.
