Director Statement

Kansas, 1989 is based on true events, and was shot on location in my hometown of Kansas City on 16mm film stock that was awarded to us from Kodak at the Queens World Film Festival for my short film Off Track Betty, which won Best Work Shot on Film.
A 1980s coming-of-age story set to the music of Flock of Seagulls and Love and Rockets, it is the story of a 16-year-old who realizes the importance of coming into your own, and charting your own path.
