Montaigne Massac

He/Him

Born Montaigne Massac in Brownsville Brooklyn and raised in Far Rockaway, Queens by Haitian American mother, Montaigne learned to balance the values taught by his mother with street smarts impressed on him by his African American father. At a young age, his survival skills, moral compass, gift for communication, and love for organizing earned him the name “Logic” amongst his peers.

In his search for a better life, Montaigne “Logic” Massac enrolled in college at the age of 17 for Business Administration and later Business Management. With his strong social skills and his ability to organize, Logic and his newly found peers created a student organization. This collective provided students with opportunities to network with business professionals and social activists to grow a network of their own. This made it possible for him to work with and gain mentors in NYC’s “Hip Hop Underground” and small business owners. His work at the time included event planning, hosting, and promotions & marketing, for Lyrics To Go Ent, Hip Hop Political, Center for Constitutional Rights, The Legendary Lyricist Lounge and more.  During that time he produced outreach materials for his student organization leading him to learn video and audio technologies.

He would then merge his love for Hip Hop, media, and community organizing in the field of Youth Development.  He taught classes on music business in South Bronx high schools and life skills in the juvenile jail system.  He became known to the youth and social work professionals as “Mr. M” while maintaining his connections to the entertainment world. When his associate Casey Gane, (a comedic yet socio-political MC by the name of Mighty Casey), asked him to help shoot a movie, he was well prepared. He became the Executive Producer / Writer / Director and one of four main characters of Chicken & Beef Presents: Monkey Gang The Mockumentary, a satire about the state of Rap/Hip Hop. This film would go on to win the Audience Award at the second annual Queens World Film Festival in 2012.

Since then Mr. M has combined his love for film production, youth development and community organizing by producing and supporting other producers and community advocates. He produced a documentary about a youth advocate with a program that operates in California and Uganda. This film had its NYC premiere at the Queens World Festival in 2017. He donated to QWFF youth incentives, volunteered his services to the in 2021 for Queens World Film Festival’s first hybrid film festival (virtual and in person) since the pandemic. He also mentored young filmmakers whom he meet along the way and introduced them to QWFF. For one young film maker, the talented Anthony Curry (whom Mr. M meet in 2012), Mr. M played a supporting role in his first feature length film. This film would also have it’s NYC premiere at QWFF in 2022. Ironically this would also be the year (2022) Mr. M was asked to serve on The Board of Directors for QWFF. Exactly 10 years after he first screened with QWFF and met the young Anthony Curry.

Over the years Mr. M set his sights on independent distribution (as he’s always self distributed his projects), and also developed an expertise in live streaming, as he produced many talk series/podcast, performances, virtual conferences (and more) in a virtual, live “shoot to edit” style. This would come together perfectly as he had been mastering the art of the “P.M.D.” of a project, (promotions, marketing, and distribution). By producing over forty different talk series, (many who have done multiple seasons) he has amassed hundreds (if not thousands) of hours of “TV ready talk series.” He has partnered with many organizations and lifestyle brands doing so. This would empower him to actualize his vision to launch his very own “FAST Channel” (Free Ad Supported Television). He became the founder of “Internet Radio And Netcast Television Network LLC (DBA: iRANT Network), a multichannel “netcast” network playing talk shows, films, podcast, musical performances and more on websites/apps and ROKU smart televisions (soon to be available on all smart TVs). He has taken many of his skills, passions, and knowledge and now shares it with the same organizations (mostly non profit) and lifestyle brands he would produce for. With his network being a “multichannel” network he’s able to extend the platform to his clients and partners to host their own networks as well. Their networks appear as a channel on the multichannel network (iRANT) and they also embed these 24/7 linear programming into their websites, and apps as well.

Mr. M also continues to produce several films, from documentary to romantic comedy, frequenting the film festival circuit. With his latest film being a short about gun violence in schools named “FINALS”, a collaboration with sister company “Shoot Films Not People”. His art and community minded business practices is one of his ways of giving back to the film community that embraced him. He now sits on the Board of Directors for the Queens World Film Festival, which he’s a three time alumni of (two times as a Producer/Dir/Actor and one time as solely an actor).
